This one’s rich. Zoltan Krisko, a man claiming to represent deceased Hungarian composer Gyorgy Vukan, is suing Marvel, Disney, Amazon, and more over the X-Men: TAS (1992-1997) theme song, a tune Krisko alleges is an uncredited, blatant derivative of Vukan’s work for the 80s Hungarian TV series Linda. Here are both songs:
Now, the two themes sound similar, I’ll grant you. But is it a rip-off, a subconscious copy, or a complete coincidence? I don’t know, but there are a couple of questions that come to mind: 1. Why is this guy filing on behalf of a 6-year deceased composer? and 2. Why wait 27 years to bring this up? I think the answer to both these questions is simple: It was just revealed X-Men: TAS would begin streaming on Disney+ when the service launches November 12th. Hmmmmm.
